"I can't bear it!" What a perfect title to describe what this polar bear is going through as a result of the heat! This poor animal is trying to seek complete shade, but for some reason, he cannot get his entire body inside. So, you guys are looking at the bear's rear end that is completely out in the sun!

This shot shows everything about what the bear is doing. His rear paws and wet fur are quite detailed. So is the surface texture of his dull gray enclosure. Greatly dimmed from being in the shade, the bear's front body can be seen from the outside. I was going to suggest a slightly far-away shot of the bear so as to show more of his enclosure; however, the details will be completely lost and the front part of the bear's body will be a bit difficult to see. So, a close-up shot of the bear is quite appropriate, since it is like someone saying, "Hey, look at this bear! He cannot seem to bear the heat at all!"

An animal that is being greatly affected by something that would cause it to be active or inactive and that displays some sort of an eye-catching body language definitely makes for a great photo object!

Thank again Laurice... I really appreciate the time and effort that you put forth to write these reviews!!!
I have always liked this shot and I recently resized and resharpened this for both prints and web [which I will try to do with several more of my photos]. I recently discovered that I need to put up a much smaller size image on the web than that which I use for prints... so most of mine on dA are 12x15 to 16x20 at 300ppi [instead of 8x10 at 100ppi or smaller]. At the size that I had been loading... MUCH of the detail was obscured and I am so happy to finally be able to show these photos with the detail that has been in them all along. I did not grow up as part of the computer age and am grateful that some of the basic tenants of digital photography are starting to sink into my mind and hobby [and it certainly helps having a wife who is a computer literate].
